Melamine Care & Maintenance

Melamine – is an organic compound that is often combined with formaldehyde to produce melamine resin, a synthetic polymer that is fire resistant and heat tolerant. The resin is a versatile material that has a stable stucture and is of a high quality, durable and long lasting.

Care should be taken to wipe up spills immediately, ensuring that the surfaces are not exposed to high or continuous levels of moisture, steam and humidity.

Stains: Using a mild household spray, wipe down the surface with a soft cloth, taking care not to rub too hard. Dry the surface using a soft cloth so as not to leave any solvent on the surface. You can also use Methylated spirits on a soft cloth using a circular cleaning motion. Thoroughly clean over the area with water and detergent and a damp cloth afterwards, to remove any residual Methylated Spirits.

Your warranty: To ensure that you do not void your warranty, DO NOT use any of the following on Melamine:

Commercial cleaning products, abrasive cleaners, scouring pads or abrasive papers, acids and alkalis solvents, thinners, turpentine, ammonia, bleach, acetone and any other cleaning agents containing organice solvent or the above mentioned products.

Structural integrity: Your furniture has been made with care and should be treated with care also. If you need to move furniture, ensure that you lift and carry the furniture (protecting your back with safe lifting principles) rather than drag the furniture across the floor. Dragging puts strain on the joints and joins of the furniture and can damage the structural integrity of the furniture. If your furniture is damaged due to dragging, your warranty may be void.
